ABOUT OTAPA ART

OTapa Art was created by Tara Farrar, a free-spirited old soul from Kentucky. She loves the sunshine, container gardening, making delicious zucchini breads and homemade jams, watching her daughters and granddaughter grow and love, sharing time with friends and family, laughing at her family pets, and finger painting. The business, OTapa Art, and this website, are a product of the last of those things – finger painting.

Finger painting has been a transformative process for Tara and has allowed greater self-expression and personal discovery. She began finger painting out of an impatient need to get paint on the canvas faster, but has since found that this style actually encouraged a slower and deeper appreciation of the creative process. Finger painting unlocks a little bit of soul magic. It is as though the soul flows through the fingertips and into the paint on the canvas. That is why she calls her paintings “soul colored art.” She believes that by creating things with our hands, we are satisfying an ancient in-built need that has been buried under modern technology and our virtual lives. A tremendous amount of satisfaction can be realized through the process of self-expression and creating by hand.

Tara started OTapa Art to showcase, not only her own works, but also the creative works of other artists and crafters. By providing another platform for emerging artists to share their works, she hopes to inspire more creative spirits to start making and sharing new things, and in turn unlock their own kind of soul magic. Please check out the Friends of OTapa page to learn more about other artists and to purchase their work. If you are interested in having your artwork featured on Friends of OTapa, please contact us.
